1 John 2: 10-11

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and nothing offensive is to him; but he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Is the love of brother there?

“If you love your brother, you stay in the light.” Your life may be quite dark, a life of sorrow and pain, poverty and hardships. Nevertheless, “stay” you “in the light”.

The brief sentence John appends: “and nothing inappropriate is”, can be understood differently depending on the we “in him” understand. Referring “in Him” to the one who loves his brother, then John says that such a loving person is not an offense to case. The “in it” can also refer back to the “light”. Pray for eyes to see and ears hear, pray for the love of your brother, because only Jesus Christ is in your heart.
