Signs and pictures on the body …we know, from the Bible, that God’s Word is the TRUTH … the opinions of individuals are as different as man himself, and may change with life situations, but God’s word, the Bible, will last forever, for He does not change. We can rely on that. His word says:in Leviticus 19 verse 28 You shall not make any cuts on your body [in mourning] for the dead, nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the Lord. AMP
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord. King James Version
28 “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord. NIV
In ancient times this was part of pagan and superstitious rituals to worship other gods …
But we as Christians want to worship the saints of Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob … the God of the Bible and Jesus alone … Worship is not only beautiful songs to sing for his glory, but the true worshippers will worship Him in spirit and TRUTH … and truth is his word. There are many Scriptures that support this verse above … and then there is this version … yes that’s all Old Testament and we live in the New Covenant, founded on grace and the blood of Jesus.
But consider what the Bible says about this:
2 Timothy 3 verses 16 and 17
For all Scripture, given by God, is good for doctrine, for correction, for improvement, for education in righteousness, that the man of God is perfect, sent to all good works …
God’s purpose is always based on love and grace and mercy … when he shows things, then always to forgive and protect … never will Jesus lead you to condemnation … but he wants us to increase in knowledge, wants to forgive us and that we are able to repent.
Prayer:
Lord, please, I did not know better that tattoos are not in your will, even if they take your name or other holy pictures and scriptures out of the word … please forgive me and wash me in your blood.
Please do not do it any more !!!
